Woulter Schallier blir LIBERs förste chef!
LIBER har anställt Woulter Schallier som föreningens förste chef. Schallier börjar som Executive Director den 2 juni 2008. Woulter Schallier är idag verksam vid Biomedical Sciences Library vid Katholieke Universitetet i Leuven. Här är pressmeddelandet från LIBER (på engelska). Educated at the Universiteit Gent, Mr Schallier's primary degree is in Latin and Greek Linguistics and Literature. He completed further studies for the Diplôme européen d'études médiévales at FIDEM in Rome, and he has a Master's degree in Sciences du livre: bibliothéconomie from the Université catholique de Louvain. His languages include Dutch, English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Mr Schallier was responsible for producing the strategic plans for the libraries of the KU Leuven Association and the Biomedical Sciences Library. His particular library interests are library management; institutional co-operation; digitisation; innovation; scholarly communication; and the role of libraries in education and research. Mr Schallier said, 'I am thrilled to have been appointed to this important position and am looking forward to working with research libraries all over Europe.' Mr Hans Geleijnse, President of LIBER, said, 'Wouter Schallier was an outstanding candidate in a very strong field, and we are delighted to have been able to appoint him to this role, which will be crucial in driving forward LIBER's ambitious agenda for the next few years.' LIBER (the Ligue des Bibliothèques Européennes de Recherche/Association of European Research Libraries) represents 370 member institutions from more than forty countries and is the principal association of European research libraries. LIBER has an exciting agenda for the future. Its current strategic goals are in the areas of scholarly communication, support for research libraries in a rapidly changing environment, library management, and the development of an increasing range of services and facilities for members.
