Automatic document delivery in Denmark
In Denmark a big part of the interlibrary loans are handled automatically. This means that the borrower orders the material via www.bibliotek.dk and then all transactions are handled without librarians being involved. Lisbet Elkær will tell us about the Danish experiences on automatic document delivery. What is a success - and what can we develop? Can we maintain the quality level we want? Have we achieved the main goals: 1) Enhancing the delivery time for the borrower wanting materials from other libraries? 2) Saving time on routine work
Lisbet Elkær finished her education at the Royal Danish School of Librarianship in Aalborg in 1984. The same year she got her first job at the Central Library of Herning. Her main duty was to develop a professional library service for private companies. She built a department called ErhvervsService (Business Information Centre) - and a few years ago this department changed its name to infoGate. After a couple of jobs in the private sector Lisbet Elkær returned to the Herning Libraries in 2000. Today she is head of infoGate and InformationsService. InformationsService is responsible for developing the interlibrary loan service to the borrowers of the Herning Libraries.
